P R O D U C T S - JOB'S TEARS![]() Job's Tears (Coix lacryma) is commonly known as Chinese pearl barley in North America and has a similar taste and appearance to common barley. However, regular barley doesn’t have the same properties and effects as Job’s Tears. In Asia, Job’s Tears is both a food and medicine. In China, it is one the most popular foods used in the therapy of painful and stiff joints, either singly or in soup mixes. The fruits are used in folk remedies for abdominal tumours, oesophageal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers, various tumours, as well as excrescences, warts, and whitlows. Japanese scientists have isolated numerous active chemical components from Job's Tears which include coixol (anti-inflammatory, antihistaminic, muscle relaxant, fever reducing, etc.) and coixans (peptide-containing polysaccharides that have sugar-lowering properties). Job's Tears contains the more common nutrients that have subtle effects that cannot be meaningfully measured by animal experiments. These nutrients include lipids (glycolipids, phospholipids, sterols, etc.), amino acids, adenosine, thiamine, and others. Normal preparations include using the seed in soup or drunk as a decoction after boiling for one hour. Use Job’s Tears in any barley recipe. Pregnant women should not use this herb.
Namu Organics’ Job’s Tears are collected from a pristine mountain valley. The seed is a large size, free of pesticides and the effects of pollution.
